GSG will be introducing some of our key field staff over the coming months. This month we introduce Linda MILLER, who is currently working with a small progressive team on a remote expolration site in the north west of Western Australia.

Linda is based on the site as a Safety Officer / Medical First Responder.

After serving in the British Army Linda moved to Australia and found work in the mining industry. Linda says "I’ve now worked for over 22 years in the mining industry, completing 18 years with RioTinto Argyle Diamonds. Commencing as a heavy equipment operator in the mine, I transferred to the logistics operations before moving on to mine security". Linda found a passion in security and says "Argyle security was where I found my true interest in the mining industry and became part of a security team in one of the world’s biggest diamond mines. I remained in the Argyle security dept for over 12 years working my way to superintendent of security".

Due to restructure Linda opted for redundancy and looked for new challenges within her area of interest.

Linda was offered employment with Gold Security Group as Team leader at Newmont’s Boddington gold mine, and after a short time was promoted to GSG site security supervisor.
Linda was later given the opportunity to expand her skill set. "With GSG I commenced training courses in emergency services,  and this has given me the opportunity to retain my security skill set and leadership role, and diversify into emergency response. With additional training and support from GSG I was given the opportunity to take my new skill sets to Sino Iron as GSG’s Security and Emergency Services Team leader".

Linda has completed a Cert IV in OHS, and Training and Assessment, and was offered the opportunity to work on a new contract in a new dual role as OHS advisor and Emergency Service as site Industrial First Responder.  Linda has already excelled in her new role and we look forward to working with Linda in the years to come.

Linda said "This new opportunity has given me exciting new challenges as I side step from security and work in my chosen field of Safety and Emergency Services".
