Investigation Skills

Matters to be dealt with by various Commissions, Tribunals and Courts support the demand for quality investigative skills to be applied to an ever-increasing range of functions in the workplace. These include external matters such as performed by regulatory or compliance bodies where prosecutions can result. The skills can be applied internally to conducting various investigations such as preliminary investigations for disciplinary matters.

Investigations in the workplace must observe the principles of natural justice and demonstrate fairness irrespective of the seriousness of the issue involved. Therefore the style and approach of an investigation will be subject to scrutiny. Any deficiency may well lead to exclusion of evidence.

Two program areas are offered being aimed broadly at the asset security and the public sectors. These programs aim to provide participants with best practice knowledge and capacity to apply the appropriate skills to a diversity of situations.

PRS30303      Certificate III in Investigative Services

The focus of this program is to provide a range of skills and knowledge that will enable participants to confidently handle a diversity of investigative assignments. It is a fact that investigations are commonly subjected to intense scrutiny leading to a need for best practice approaches by practitioners.

Within a framework of a very interactive approach to learning, GSG courses draw on real cases, real people and real outcomes. As current practitioners, the staff of GSG presenting the courses can draw upon current experiences and give up-to-date accounts of the processes and methods to be employed.

People seeking to be licensed as Inquiry Agents or Investigators in WA need to complete the qualification prior to lodging their applications.

The qualification of Certificate III in Investigative Services is available under the endorsed Asset Security Training Package PRS03. Achievement of competence in the various units carries national recognition under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
