Security, Security First Responders and Emergency Services Officers
Security Officers (SO's), Security First Responders (SFR's) and Emergency Services Officers (ESO's) provided by GSG are an important on-site management tool, while at the same time relieving clients of the need to screen, recruit and monitor such staff. Recruiting and managing SO's, SFR's and ESO's is a specialised task, for which GSG is highly trained, and conducts professionally.
SO's, SFR's and ESO's will be subjected to critical screening prior to recruitment as well as ongoing evaluation for performance management and quality assurance purposes.
GSG will continually pursue best practice standards in offering this service.

Security Officers & Security First Responders

Furthermore our clients require a diversified service provider which can deliver services that compliment and add value to the supply of security personnel contract.
The Contractor will be responsible for the physical security of the Principal’s Mine Site, Accommodation, Rail and Port Operations. The Contractor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions:
- Manning Gatehouses on mine/ construction site and village;
- Conducting roaming night patrols of the Principal’s Site;
- Conducting roaming night patrols of the Principal’s accommodation village;
- Assist with traffic management as required;
- Issuing of keys, radios and other resources to approved persons;
- First response capability to incidents
- Co-ordinate first response escalation procedures to incidents
The Contractor will be required to maintain a suitable permanent security presence at the Principals Gatehouses. The associated duties with these posts include, but are not limited to the following:
- Managing visitors to site;
- Managing contractor and the Principal’s records;
- Monitoring Principal’s personnel and contractors access on-site and log all personnel on and off site;
- Managing deliveries to site;
- Managing external queries;
- Manage lost property;
- Traffic management for wide loads;
- Monitoring of site and emergency radios;
- Journey Management plans;
- Vehicle site compliance;
- Site/ Visitor inductions;
- Weed and seed compliance;
- Completing reports for site based personnel as required.
The Principal’s Minesite Gatehouse is the central monitoring point for all emergency communications emanating from the Principal’s Mine Site, Principal’s Village and external agencies. The Contractor will be responsible for receiving emergency calls, activating the appropriate resources and management emergency incident communications as per the Principal’s emergency response procedures.
The Contractor's Personnel will have the following qualifications
Security Officer
- Cert III Security Operations;
- SATC – Blue card
- Senior First Aid (SFA)
- Four Wheel Drive Course.
- Basic Fire Fighting;
Clients may require a more effective and rapid response security/ emergency service. GSG can supply security personnel with advanced emergency services qualifications.
Security First Responder
The SFR must have the qualifications of a security officer and:
- Occupational First Aid (OFA) qualification
- Breathing Apparatus (BA);
- Vehicle Rescue;
- Pump Operations
- Customer Service Training
Emergency Services Officers (ESO)
Core duties of the Emergency Services Officers provided as part of the contract will include but not limited to:
- Site wide Emergency Response Procedure planning & implementation;
- Site wide emergency First Aid;
- Concurrent audits and reviews of policies and procedures;
- Week and month end audits of all ERT equipment;
- Week and month end audits of First aid posts and equipment/ consumables as directed by the Principal;
- Daily inspections of emergency vehicles and equipment;
- Cyclone procedure preparedness and compliance;
- Supervising yearly inspections of rescue equipment;
- Supervising 6 month inspections of Fire equipment;
- Meetings with other heads of departments on emergency preparedness;
- Consulting stakeholders and key personnel on recommended changes needed for site policies and procedures which require Emergency Services department involvement;
- Continuation training of ESO’s and ER volunteers;
- Drug & Alcohol testing of site employees and contractors as directed by the Principal;
- Fire extinguisher checks;
- Management of Fire Monitoring systems (FIPS).
Qualifications of the ESO:
- Occupational First Aid (OFA) qualification;
- Emergency First Responder – Medic One
- Fire Fighting;
- Breathing Apparatus (BA);
- Vehicle Rescue;
- Pump Operations
- Working at Height – Rope Rescue
